CENTER FOR INTEGRAL EVANGELIZATION (CIE)

-=-

What is CIE?

  • It is a body or center that institutionalizes the experiencing, knowing and witnessing the faith.
  • Integral- because it looks after the total development of the human person which according to the gospel of St. John 10:10 states: “I have come that they may have life to the full”

CIE Mission and Vision

  • We envision a School community that is deeply rooted in the Eucharist.
  • Inspired by the Marian values, we commit ourselves to participate wholeheartedly in the task of integral evangelization in enhancing the knowing, experiencing, witnessing and celebrating the dimensions of faith.

What is CIE’s importance in the school setting?

Background: Salvation History

  • God in his loving plan sent his Son Jesus to redeem mankind from sin. This was made possible through the generous self giving of the Blessed Virgin Mary when Jesus became incarnate in her womb through the power of the Holy Spirit.
  • By this incarnation of the Son of God brought a spiritual rebirth to mankind.
  • To continue this saving work of Jesus he founded the Catholic Church on the day of Pentecost when he sent the Holy Spirit.
  • Moved by the Holy Spirit, the Church is constantly deepening her awareness of herself and meditating on the mystery of her being and mission.
  • Thus she is ever discovering her living relationship with Christ…Her destiny is to serve humanity until it reaches its fullness in Christ.
  • This mission of the Church to serve humanity is fulfilled for the salvation of mankind through Evangelization.
  • That through the Church she must proclaim the good news of salvation to all
  • To generate new creatures in Christ through Baptism and train them to live knowingly as children of God.
  • The Church to carry out her saving mission uses other means which at different times and in different cultures have proved effective in achieving and promoting the development of the human person.
  • The Church establishes her own school because she considers them as a privileged means of promoting the formation of the whole man. (Catholic School is Christ-gospel centered)
  • The Catholic School forms part of the saving mission of the Church especially for the education of the faith. It is the gospel of Christ taking root in the minds and lives of the faithful that the Catholic School finds its definition as it comes to terms with the cultural conditions of the times.
  • Catholic Schools were recognized as offering a systematic understanding of the link between faith and life with the classroom providing an opportunity for understanding the person through the prism of the various academic fields with faith as the integrating factor.
  • The renewal in the Church through the PCP II(2nd Plenary Council of the Phil.) on its document entitled “The Other Communities of Renewal” pp.4-6 concluded that the Catholic Educational Institutions are among the most necessary and potent means of Evangelization.
  • MAPSA and the CIE as an implementing arm of the Catholic School envision itself as a communion of schools in mission of promoting evangelized globalization in the light of love and preference for the poor. MAPSA shares in the essential mission of the Church which is evangelization that is deeply rooted in the life of Jesus. (MAPSA Admin. Book,1998)

The Threefold Foundation of Christian Education

Knowing the Faith as a response to God’s revelation contains three elements:

  1. The profession of faith referring to dogma or creed itself, its confession and content;
  2. Pertains to morals of codes, the attitude and commitment in faith;
  3. Celebrating one’s faith, particularly in reference to liturgy and worship. (creed, code and cult)

The experiencing or living the Christian faith where all constituents relate faith in Jesus the salvific message of Jesus to their given reality and life issues.

Sharing and witnessing to the faith. This means to experience the faith and understand its depths and perspective is insufficient until it is concretely lived through sharing of oneself in the apostolate or ministries of the Church or through the witnessing of one’s life.
