BRIEF HISTORY:
Jesus Christ throughout His ministry showed us the real essence of charity. In John 13:34, He said: “Love one another as I have loved you.” This is the underlying principle behind the creation of the Special Education Program in ICCS. Jesus Christ is our model and the blessed Mother is our inspiration of genuine love and service.
On August 4, 2002, Msgr. Daniel B. Sta. Maria, the school director that time instructed Miss Nida Roxas, Head of Research and Development to conduct a study about the possibility of putting up Special Education in ICCS. Hence, a feasibility study was made and eventually preparations were done to start the Special Education Program. The Sped Program was formally opened on June 16, 2003 with four special learners enrolled in Early Childhood Special Education. Towards the end of the same school year the enrollment increased to a total of nine. Today, SY: 2008-2009 enrollment has increased to less than fifty special learners.
Indeed, “there is no better exercise of the heart than reaching down and lifting people up( Borjal, 2001).”
